NMH houses a 24-hour, Level 4 Trauma unit. The Emergency Department is staffed around the clock to meet the emergency medical needs of Shattuck and the surrounding communities. Approximately 2,400 visits are made to the Emergency Department each year.

Patients are seen according to the severity of their problem. Those in the most need of care will be seen before those with relatively minor problems.
